5 Tips and Tricks for Using Concealer

When it comes to skin concerns like minimising redness, brightening under-eye circles, and concealing blemishes, we always have one product in our makeup arsenal: concealer. When used correctly, it can help conceal blemishes, even out your skin tone, and make your under-eye area glow and bright (even if you’re sleep deprived).

Remember a few important factors if you’re adding concealer to your makeup routine. It includes finding the right formula for your skin type, the texture of the concealer you select, and how you apply it to your skin. Keep scrolling this blog to find out the best concealer tips and trips that top makeup artists think everyone should know.

Choose the Right Formula

Using a concealer that is too light can be disastrous. Choose a colour that is one to two shades lighter than your foundation. It should complement it perfectly and not be too light or dark. You must get the right shade because it can make or break your entire makeup look.

Apply a moisturiser and eye cream after exfoliating to keep your skin hydrated and smooth (even if you have oily skin). Bonus points if your moisturiser has SPF to shield your skin from UV rays all day long.

Apply Makeup Primer

Apply a primer before the rest of your makeup to ensure that it lasts all day (especially on those hot summer days). There are numerous options for moisturizing primers for those with dry or sensitive skin, as well as oil-free primers for those with oily skin. Massage the primer into your skin with your fingers.

Colour and Textures Theory

Nobody tells you that different skin concerns necessitate different concealer colours and textures. As mentioned earlier, to match your skin tone, choose a concealer shade significantly lighter than your foundation shade.

When it comes to concealers, you can fully utilise the colour theory. On the colour wheel, colours across the spectrum are opposite. As a result, they cancel each other out when used for colour correction.

  • Green is the opposite of red.
  • Blue is the opposite of orange.
  • Purple is the opposite of yellow.

Choose Your Tool

There are three common concealer tools, each with its own set of advantages.

Fingertips: Using your fingers to blend your concealer will give you a natural skin finish, as the heat from your fingers will melt the product into your skin seamlessly.

Makeup Sponge: A damp beauty sponge will soften and absorb excess product if you want lighter, more natural coverage on your skin.

Concealer Brush: For more coverage, use a concealer brush with stippling motions (for example, dab and press the product down into your skin). Finish by blending the product with circular motions or lightly bouncing a damp makeup sponge across the area for a streak-free finish.

Avoid Using Pressed Powder

After applying your concealer, set it with some loose translucent setting powder. By settling into creases or wrinkles, the pressed powder can draw attention to fine lines, so avoiding them is better. And most importantly, always apply concealer in natural light to avoid two-toned-looking skin.

Use Type Get Concealer, Eye Light Concealer, and Zit Quit Concealer for various skin imperfections like blemishes, spots, or discolouration.
